Apologies.

The school council got the assembly for anti-bullying week on the 16th

 of November 09.

Helen took names of the people wanting to take part in the assembly, and is trying to get money to get in a spectacle theatre.

Annie had asked Mr. Maidment for bullying videos, and he said they’d have to talk to Helen.

The Assembly meetings are every Thursday in H7.

Mr. Gibson has returned to school, so Daniel is going to arrange a meeting with him and perhaps the headmistress to talk about fair trade vending machines, and about red brick selling glass appletizer bottles.

  • Year  8 went to an eco-conference on climate change in Gartholwg.

Phil Williams from bbc talked, and Bryn Celynnog was ranked poorly against other schools.

Bryn Celynnog released 630 tonnes of CO2 a year.

They brought back a banner

Year 8 student reps put forward an idea to launch a campaign to decrease our carbon footprint.

If evidence of reduced carbon footprint Bryn will get an energy meter that can be read at any time.

Ideas for reducing;

- Count how many appliances the school has (Shock)

It’s part of Eco-Schools

We could form a link with Y Pant and maybe get Phil Williams in.

  • Year 12 are still waiting for enough people to have an election. Candidates at the moment are; - Ben Edwards

                                                                            - Lydia Griffiths

Fair Trade

Ffion came in to talk about fair-trade. She works with fair trade in schools. Bryn Celynnog is the only school in R.C.T. currently involved with fair trade.

The Questionnaires on Fair Trade were collected, but year 9 still has to do it.

Talk to Mr. Gibson when he gets back about Fair trade vending machines.

Anti-Bullying Week (16th November 09)

  • There may be too many people getting involved in the assembly, e.g.  e3 Film Making.
  • People are going to ask the P.S.E. teachers for bullying clips –show these to Helen Faulkner
  • Ask the policewoman to come in
  • Fliers-put them in places where people will see them, e.g. canteen tables
  • Choose a colour to wear during the week, not house colours, maybe orange.
  • Sell some bands in aid of anti-bullying.
  • Get orange ribbon to wear for anti-bullying, ask textiles teachers for cost.
